Harapan Rainforest ; Tanah Jambi nan Subur
Ada Pangeran Charles, Putera Mahkota Kerajaan Inggris ‘blusukan’ ke rimba Jambi. Ngapain?...
Yup, beliau datang untuk melihat kawasan restorasi ekosistem hutan yang pertama di Indonesia ini tepatnya di Desa Bungku, Kabupaten Batanghari, Provinsi Jambi, 3 jam perjalanan darat pada tanggal 2 November 2008 lalu. Kawasan ini disebut Harapan Rainforest atau Hutan Hujan Harapan yang mempunyai luas sekitar 101.000 Ha yang menjadi habitat bagi satwa khas Sumatera; gajah Asia, harimau Sumatera, beruang madu, simpai, siamang, macan dahan, tapir, kukang dan 300 jenis burung. Nah disini juga ada lho kawasan tempat tinggal Kelompok Adat Terpencil yakni Suku Batin Sembilan. Bahkan Pangeran Charles sempat mengunjungi suku tersebut dan Suku Anak Dalam bersama Gubernur Jambi saat itu, Zulkifli Nurdin dan Bupati Batanghari.
Kanti, cukup miris sebab kawasan ini adalah sebagai hutan daratan kering yang masih tersisa di Sumatera.
Dan sebagai pilot project restorasi ekosistem yang baru pertama kalinya maka kawasan ini dikelola langsung oleh konsorsium BirdLife yang terdiri atas Burung
Indonesia , Royal Sociaty for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) dan
Bird Life International untuk restorasi.

Yup, he came to see the area of forest ecosystem restoration is the first in Indonesia precisely in Bungku village, Batang regency, Jambi province, three hours by road on November 2, 2008. This area is called Harapan Rainforest or expectation that has an area of about 101,000 hectares which is home to unique wildlife of Sumatra; Asian elephants, Sumatran tigers, sun bears, hoop, gibbons, clouded leopards, tapirs, lemurs and 300 species of birds. Here also there is a residential area that is isolated tribes Suku Batin Sembilan. Even Prince Charles had visited the tribe and Anak Dalam Tribes with the Governor of Jambi, Zulkifli Nurdin and Regent Batanghari.
Pretty sad because this area is as dry land forest remaining in Sumatra.
And as a pilot project for ecosystem restoration for the first time, the area is managed directly by BirdLife consortium consisting of Birds
Indonesia, Royal Sociaty for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) and
Bird Life International for restoration.
